Download Violant Fonts Family From Eurotypo

Download Violant Fonts Family From Eurotypo
Designed by Carine de Wandeleer, Violant is a blackletter font family. This typeface has two styles and was published by Eurotypo.

Violant fonts are designed as a tribute to Queen Violant, wife of Jaume 1st, king of Aragon, a woman of strong character, who supported her husband in the conquest of Valencia in 1238. Probably, Violant read texts in Gothic letters, which at that time were subjected to a stylization process in Castile and Aragon.
Violant family comes with 736 glyphs, with OpenType features, swashes for all glyphs, stylistics sets, stylistics alternates, a lot of ligatures and a generous set of ornaments to play with your texts.

Download Quorthon Font Family From Paulo Goode

Download Quorthon Font Family From Paulo Goode
Designed by Paulo Goode, Quorthon is a blackletter font family. This typeface has fifteen styles and was published by Paulo Goode.

Quorthon is a collection of blackletter style fonts in 3 distinct voices – Black, Dark, and Grey. Each style has a more contemporary feel than the centuries-old blackletter standard, the capitals in particular were drawn to aid legibility in today’s world rather than to follow tradition. All the fonts contain a number of alternates that will help you embellish your typography – when used subtly, they can add flair to your titles and logo designs.

BLACK is the most severe of the three styles, its lowercase forms were inspired by text I discovered on a marble tomb in a remote countryside church in England. The aggressive barbs and spurs give these fonts an imposing stature, ideal for branding, advertising and logotype, where a forceful message is required.

DARK is a little more subtle, while retaining a barbed style, more contemporary serifs are present. The highly-contrasted, calligraphic glyphs are full of character and subtle nuances that give these fonts a unique personality. Again, these fonts are perfect for branding, advertising and logotype designs… and maybe even a tattoo?

GREY is the softest of all the Quorthon styles, its minimal design and clean, straight lines make it ideal for creating stunning titles and headlines. It evokes the past with its blackletter pedigree, yet is imbued with a modern architectural influence.
Key Features:

  • 15 font family – 5 weights across 3 styles
  • 17 Alternates in each font
  • Western European Language Support (Latin only)
  • 250+ glyphs per font.

Download Luke Font Family From The Northern Block

Download Luke Font Family From The Northern Block
Designed by Hidetaka Yamasaki, Luke is a blackletter font family. This typeface has twelve styles and was published by The Northern Block.

Luke is a contemporary adaptation of historic English Blackletter, inspired by the creativity of leading English type-creator: Caslon Foundry. Their highly unique 19th century Blackletter typeface provided the core elements of Luke, with the name paying tribute to the Caslon family tomb in the churchyard of St Luke Old Street in London. This modern and versatile type family offers a wide range of styles — from thin to thick contours, and with half-filling to complete - allowing it to work best for both text and display purposes.

Details include twelve styles and 641 glyphs. Opentype features include superscript, denominators, numerators, scientific inferiors, ordinals, stylistic alternatives, case-sensitive forms, fractions, contextual alternates and discretionary ligatures. Luke supports 37 languages, covering South, East and Western Europe.

Download Kuschelfraktur Font Family From Catharsis Fonts
Designed by Christian Thalmann, Kuschelfraktur is a blackletter font family. This typeface has six styles and was published by Catharsis Fonts.

Kuschelfraktur is a unique, eye-catching take on the theme of blackletter that replaces the broad nib with a brush pen and achieves stroke modulation through stencil-like gaps.  It combines the texture and dignity of blackletter with the human warmth of informal handwriting.

Kuschelfraktur offers five separate sets of capital letters and several additional customization option via stylistic alternates. The degree of ornamentation in the blackletter capitals can be increased (SS02) or decreased (SS07), while SS04 and SS05 offer two simpler approaches to capital letters that bridge from blackletter to Roman letters (Antiqua). The default single-storey «a» can be replaced with a two-storey version in SS01, and SS08 offers a single-storey capital «A» for the simple capitals. Finally, SS03 restores some of the more unique letter shapes of the Fraktur style of blackletter. The old-style figures can be replaced with lining and/or tabular figures. All these stylistic sets are accessible via OpenType from the main font, Kuschelfraktur, whereas the spin-off fonts (Traditional, Verziert, Text, Schlicht, Antiqua) offer convenient access to those sets even in environments without OpenType support.

I am grateful to the helpful souls on the TypeDrawers and Typographie.info forums for encouragement and constructive feedback, and to the Glyphs team for their fantastic type editor. Kuschelfraktur is dedicated to my son Marius.
